As an instructor for a First Day/Inclusive Access course, you will need to add the following Tool Link in Blackboard so that students can Opt-Out of the program if they wish, during the Opt-Out period, and Courseware and eTextbook materials can be accessed by students through this link. (Note: Your LMS may have slight variations in these steps or naming.)
Setup for “Course Materials” Link (Classic View)
- Log in to Blackboard with your instructor username and password and navigate to the course that requires the Course Materials link.
- Navigate to the desired course.
- Click the + sign in the left-hand navigation.
- Select Tool Link from the drop-down options.
- For Name, type Course Materials.
- Next, click the drop-down next to Type and select Course Materials.
- Check the box for Available to Users.
- Click Submit.

Setup for “Course Materials” Link (Ultra View)
- Log in to Blackboard with your instructor username and password and navigate to the course that requires the Course Materials link.
- Navigate to the desired course.
- Under Books & Tools in the left-hand navigation, click “View course & institution tools”
- Locate the Barnes & Noble Course Materials tool and click the + sign.
- This will add a link to your Course Content area.
- The link will be hidden from students by default. Click the eye icon to make the link available to students.
